Fishing Report.. 2/27/08
Well as usual the offshore action has come to a halt this week because of another cold front ! When you can make it out the Snapper bite is good in 95 feet South West of Pass-a-Grille .The Big Amberjacks are out there at the springs and wrecks from 120 to 150 feet .I've heard about a few Kingfish offshore from 60 feet on out but thats common this time of year .Don't even bother Grouper fishing cause you have to throw them back anyway ,remember the season's closed till April . The mangos are better eating anyway and lots of fun on light tackle .Inshore has been really good for Redfish around the docks and plenty of Sheepshead at the bridges and rock piles along the channels ,if you take some kids fishing for those two species and throw in a few trout you'll get them hooked on fishing for the rest of their lives.Shrimp is still my favorite bait for all that stuff ,just make sure to take plenty of em cause the pinfish are pretty thick also. TieraVerde docks and the flats around there have been good for the reds and sheepies, the trout are closer to the skyway flats and fort desoto .have fun and be carefull with the weather ...Capt. carlos
